Embroidered Boxes

My wife has been embroidering boxes for some time. Here she worked on the outside of the boxes. The silk fabric was hand dyed and then she would determine the placement and flow of the actual flower or objects sewn onto the silk. Note the different use of the pearls -one to represent Queen Anne's Lace; the other an abstract flow from the shell. She did the embroidery work before she attached the finished embroidered material to a backing which is then glued into the recess of the painted box.

Her first boxes were embroidered vignettes on the inside of the boxes. You opened each one to a small scene inside -a moment in time. Now she wants to catch your eye and use the box for keepsakes.
