Oil Pastel Landscape On the River's Bank

I had been traipsing along the Grand River's bank when I spied the copse of trees and actual blue shadows.  A sketch, a photo and back to the studio.  White/grey trees presented an interesting challenge.  You can layer oil pastels only so much especially with the softer Sennelier oil pastels, so the evergreens had to be done then a line scraped through them to make way for the white/grey trees.

The picture is 3" x 5" on watercolour paper.
