An Art Project during Covid Times

Manuela and I belong to the Riverbend Artists of Grand Valley.  RAGV has not met for over a year and without venues for show and sale we have not been too active -except as individual artists- during the Covid crisis.  However, in preparation for the end of the Covid pandemic, some of the artists from RAGV are creating art works that will have a theme "Spirit of the Grand".  The Grand is the Grand River that starts from its source near Wareham, Ontario. It flows south though Grand Valley, Fergus, Elora, Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Paris, Brantford, Caledonia, and Cayuga before emptying into the north shore of Lake Erie south of Dunnville at Port Maitland.

Each artist is to interpret the theme in their own way -writing, dance, music, photos, painting, drawing, etc.  As we work on them now we will be ready for a show once restrictions have been lifted.  At present the project is a way to keep are group together.

Manuela is using her threads, embellishments and fabric art techniques to make this  Spirit of the Grand art piece.

Peter used the oil pastels to create this bend of the Grand as it flows under the Amaranth bridge.  The Grand lazily threads its way through our hamlet.

Both of us will continue to work on the theme and create a body of work to be chosen for a larger show once we meet again some day.
