Water has always created a challenge -no less with oil pastels in the midst of oil paint, water colour, pencil, et al. So, I began to work with small left over papers before tackling the main oil pastel painting/drawing.

I had darks as with the practice piece but when I had finished the piece all you could see was the dark areas and those areas did not create a movement throughout the picture and so the darks were muted down.

The thickness of the pastels on a 4" x 6" postcard is react a challenge when doing water and weeds/grasses. |
