Oil Pastel Sketches of Winter Scenes

Last night the snow fell heavily and in the morning I had to snowblow the driveway.  First time I have worn cleats on my boots as the ice beneath the snow was treacherous.
Once life issues were out of the way I was able to get back into the studio and did a drawing and then an oil pastel sketch of one of the scenes from along highway 109.  Capturing a day that seemed mostly grey can have its challenges and I like things relatively defined.
Again, I did both works on artists' postcards 4" x6".

The Sennelier oil pastels add a textural quality to the work that I have not used in my paintings at all.  Image is 3" x 5".
I used black pen lines and shaded with pencil to get a feel for the values I wanted .
