Fabric Coil Bowls with Machine Embroidered Flowers and Butterfly

My wife machine stitched the petals of the flowers, the leaves and the butterfly wings separately and then assembled them to form the flower and butterfly. The embroidery was done on her sewing machine, but done free-hand. She followed the growth lines of the petals and leaves to render them as real as possible.

The coil pots were made by wrapping a plastic filament with threads.


As you can see nature is a recurring theme in most of the work my wife does. Here she worked on two crafts and then combined them for a unique creation. With colour, design and juxtapositioning of elements she moves her craft work into the realm of art.
